Whether you asked for it or not, here are my ponderings about the big things in life.

Big Dreams, Low Expectations

I'm supposed to be starting this blog that six people have been requesting. I'm not going to lie to you; I've been personally pressured by Isaiah Rustad to do this. Personally attacked by my "friends" to "just do it and stop talking about it." And yeah sure I'm thankful for people who violently support me, but I feel the pressure to perform here. So here's what I would like to do with that.

I want to start you and me off with low expectations. I've tried blogging probably five other times. I have three websites that have failed because of lack of discipline. I have piles of journals that are both unfinished and signs of failure. I've started four different books, and I'm only 25.

The problem is I have big dreams. Big dreams of writing and connecting with people in a real way. Big dreams of speaking to you exactly where you're at and hoping that we can have a real dialogue. Big dreams of being deeply vulnerable to spur you on in your own vulnerability. Big dreams that are burning holes in my heart waiting to come forth. So what's my 2018 plan for these big dreams? It's to start small.

You see, if you failed at something you are created for enough, you learn new ways to go at it again. You can't give up on it all together because it was what you were made for, so you find another way to try it. You start a new job. You start a new blog. You move to a new city. You find new people to be inspired by. You try, and you fail, and you try, and you fail, and you try, and you fail. You learn. You grow. You try, and you fail again. I'm not afraid of failing or trying again, but I want to try it a different way. I want to start smaller because I think I'm finding the bigger the dream, the smaller the first steps.

We get so wrapped up in our dream we forget to plan how we get there. We have the address, but we forgot to ask for directions. (Okay, when was the last time you asked for directions to anywhere?) I have a feeling I'm going to make it to the destination, but I'm taking the directions one step at a time. I have a feeling you'll make it to. Let's enjoy the ride together.

NEXT BLOG POST - So yes I have a plan for future blog posts, and I'll lay it out for you next time.
